Employers - How to get involved with NRC

Employers – how to get involved with Northern Regional College

Northern Regional College aims to build long term partnerships with employers in our region. While we are keen to support the development of skills in employees, we also recognise the valuable role employers play in helping us to prepare our students to be members of the workforce of the future. Below are some of the ways that employers support us.

Student Industry Projects
As our students are the future workforce, we are eager for them to undertake relevant projects as part of their course of study. If you have a suitable project, or would like to discuss an idea for a project, please contact us.

Work Placements/Internships
Are you able to offer a placement opportunity to one of our students? Placements can vary from a day per week to block placements. If you think this would be of interest to you, contact us to discuss how we can work together. In particular, we are looking for employers who can provide placements to one of our apprentices and internships for our Engineering Career Ready.

Benefits of work placements to employers include:
• Help to encourage enthusiastic individuals into your industry. Research shows that young people and adults are strongly influenced by work based experiences.
• Give you an opportunity to find good staff without incurring a financial risk.
• Give you the opportunity to raise the skill level of young people and adults, contributing to their current education and improving their future employability.
• Help to raise the profile of your industry within the local community.

If you are able to offer a work placement to one of our students following a vocational qualification in Brickwork, Plastering, Carpentry and Joinery, Engineering, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Plumbing or Electrical Installation, or if you would be interested in discussing this further, we would be glad to hear from you. Either download and complete the Employer Work Placement Registration Form or contact our Training Manager, Sean McAleese, on 028 2566 4288 or 07554118467, or by emailing sean.mcaleese@nrc.ac.uk
